TEHRAN – Iran's interim charge d'affaires in Pyongyang has engaged in discussions with senior North Korean officials regarding recent events on the Korean Peninsula, as well as the ongoing violence perpetrated by the Israeli regime in Gaza and Lebanon.

During meetings in the North Korean capital, both parties emphasized the importance of denouncing the criminal actions of the Zionist regime, which were executed with direct support from the “Imperialism Axis”, led by the United States.

The Iranian diplomat also highlighted the current situation on the Korean Peninsula, expressing concerns that activities along the border with South Korea are perilous and contribute to rising tensions. 

North Korean officials echoed these sentiments, condemning any escalation in the Korean Peninsula and the West Asian region that could jeopardize regional stability.

Tensions between North and South Korea have been on the rise due to various factors. On October 15, North Korea detonated sections of roads and railways linking it to South Korea, leading South Korea to issue warning shots within its territory. The move was made in response to Seoul’s use of drones to rain propaganda leaflets on North Korean territory, as well as its recent joint military drill with the U.S. 

Additionally, North Korea reported that approximately 1.4 million young individuals had expressed interest in joining or rejoining the military to prepare for potential face-offs with the southern neighbor.
